Meet Ursula

Very few people have been vegan their entire lives. Though the idea of "veganism" was unknown to Ursula as a young child, she naturally gravitated toward a plant based diet from birth. But being raised in a meat loving country like Brazil posed many challenges for her, especially for her health.

Despite all of these obstacles, Ursula went on to accomplish all of the things that she dreamt of as a child. Having been influenced by her great uncle, artist M.C. Escher (visit: artsy.net/artist/mc-escher), Ursula chased her dream of becoming a character animator. She went on to work with some of the best animators in the country, and is best known for her pivotal role in creating the award winning game "Call of Duty." Though in the peak of her career, with many opportunities, Ursula felt that something was still missing. Sometimes, life has a way of changing our priorities. For Ursula, her father being diagnosed with brain cancer was the catalyst.

Anti-Cancer Diet for dad

Though her family opted for conventional treatment, Ursula was still adamant about supporting her father's health with proper nutrition. And although her investigation of anti-cancer diets started as a project to help her father, she realized that much of this information was confusing and difficult to follow on a practical level. This inspired her to author and publish "A Day in The Budwig Diet: The Book", both in English and Portuguese. Because information is more limited in Brazil, Ursula now devotes much of her time promoting awareness of nutritional therapies amongst the Portuguese speaking public.

Yet, having done so much research on the topic of diet, anti-cancer diets in particular, Ursula realized how much of this information applied to the vegan diet. Though she had always been very careful about the food she ate, Ursula was still shocked about how much better she felt after incorporating some of these techniques into her diet. She also realized how much of the vegan community was unaware of the dangers posed by certain foods, especially in vegan cookbooks. These realizations have inspired her to write her very first vegan book, "The Vegan Survival Guide" (2014).

"I've learned so much from my ups and downs as a life long vegan. I'm really excited to share my experiences and insights so that you can get the most out of your vegan diet."

~ Ursula Escher
